GUEST BLOGGER – AIMEE LONG #3: “EFFORLESSLY ELEGANT”

It’s Friday afternoon, it’s pretty much nearly the weekend and we’re ready for much fun indeed. If you’ve got plans for a Saturday night out but totally boggled as to what to wear and are bored stiff of your wardrobe then let us be your remedy. On arteecollage.com  we have a generous sale on and can offer super swift delivery to help with those sartorial woes. Take heed from our guest blogger who just the other night wore our smart/casual super soft stretch dress for an evening of leisure in Greece. Read her review below:

‘Arteecollage: Effortlessly Elegant’, by Aimee Long

A few days ago, I saw my last night in Greece, and in true Aimee fashion I just had to make it the biggest night of them all. Clubbing / ‘painting the town red,’ as one my call it, is very different over there to how it is here; more relaxed, not as fast paced and definitely a completely juxtaposing fashion aesthetic. What a typical Brit girl may wear out: the tightest, shortest, most revealing dress paired with the highest of all heels despite the climate. However, the Greeks are far cooler than that, sandals, linen trousers and a plain tee will suffice. With that in mind my choice of garment was Arteecollage’s Effortless Dress, at a beautiful price of £36.00, you can’t go wrong.
Let’s not forget the average temperature on a night out there was around 23 degrees, which is still pretty warm. The fact the fabric was an extremely light weight modal cotton, allowed me to sit comfortably in the stuffy bar environment without over heating. Oh and did I mention it has a hood, how chic! Paired with diamond sandals and matching bangles I fitted right in.

THE REEL DEEL: JUDGE DREDD 3D

In this version of reality the future of America is violent, run by criminals and police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner. This sequel is stimulated by bombastic violence and captivating special effects. There’s stomach-churning gore, intense action and epic cinematography.

Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (played by Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with purging the city of a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.
There’s gore, incredible special effects and intense action – and luckily it’s not just for guys. What also caught our eyes (despite the ample guts and blood) was the minimalistic, grimy styling. It’s urban, casual and raw and totally offsets the wasteland that this state of America has become. Needless to say the new Dredd 3D is a rare example of a remake that actually works.

Check it out this evening.

GUEST BLOGGER – SARAH MAYBANK #3: “HIDE OF GOOD TASTE”

The beauty of our simplistic collections is that not only can they be worn as everyday basics by many shapes and size, but their versatility means they form the foundation of a timeless wardrobe. Here fashion writer Sarah Maybank shows us how to team our quality sporty bodycon basics with luscious leathers to create a newfangled approach to city chic.

‘Hide of Good Taste: Teamed with Arteecollage’s Sporty and Bodycon Basics, Leather Gets a 21stCentury Upgrade’, by Sarah Maybank

Once you’re up to speed with the X Factor evictions and the William and Kate baby debate there should be only one thing making headlines in your world this season. The reinvention of leather. Long-lasting and breathable, leather is the original wardrobe staple. Archeologists have been excavating it from graves dating back to prehistoric times and it has been rocking Planet Fashion ever since.

We all know the classic incarnations – iconic biker anti hero (Brando in The Wild One); kick-ass gal with a grudge (Uma Thurman in Kill Bill); rock chick fashion bible editor (French Vogue’s Emmanuelle Alt). This season, have fun with it, channeling ’80s TV power vixens in all their wiggle skirted, batwing shirted glory. Take Dynasty’s corporate wildcat Alexis Colby as your template – think tight pencil skirts, and batwing tops. To stop the look tipping over into fancy dress party-esque parody, dress down the look with luxe sporty basics, which have crossed the divide from Olympics-inspired summer trend to autumn/winter staple.

For bargainous retro leather, raid vintage emporia such as Beyond Retro and Rokit. Then for cutting edge accompaniment, get yourself on Arteecollage.com and immerse yourself in its collection of sleek, minimal dresses and tops. The brand’s trademark soft, modal fabric counterpoints the toughness of the leather, plus unlike cotton jersey, it keeps its shape forever.
For a low key take, wear a sleek knee-length pencil skirt with a soft-stretch Arteecollage asymmetric neckline T-shirt, currently reduced from £34.52 to £18. Go for Mysterious, a striking tomato red or Glory, an understated grey.
For full-on 80s glam, work a bodycon knee-length dress in Effortless (grey) or Ocean Blue blue (£36 reduced from £57.50) with a retro batwing jacket.

For a more sporty look, team cute leather shorts with a body-skimming hoodie, try Arteecollage’s version in Marine Blue or Dressed Up (grey) , reduced from £41.66 to £24.
Finish it off with your favourite trainers or a pair of skyscraper heels, and as much door-slamming Alexis Colby attitude as you care to muster.

GUEST BLOGGER – LUCIA CABANOVA #3: “DESIGNER COLLABORATION”

We love androgyny here at Arteecollage. For us nothing quite stirs intrigue than a beautiful mix of feminine qualities juxtaposed against boyish attire. If you concur then we have some fab news – this week’s blog post theme for Lucia Cabanova explores how to channel boyish charm but with a feminine twist using our collection. Here she showcases our work with artist Paul Engeris and uses her unique styling tips to guide us on how to complete the androgynous look.

‘Designer Collaboration’, by Lucia Cabanova

Lately there have been more and more collaborations between fashion designers and visual artists, and the fairly new London-based online brand Arteecollage is no exception.  The ethical urban-chic brand that creates functional, basic and versatile apparel has recently connected with graphic designer Paul Engeris to create a digitally printed collection of T-shirts and leggings.

Arteecollage aims to create staple garments that can easily be combined with different pieces of clothing to create a variety of looks. The brand uses luxury and innovative materials such as Modal, a type of rayon which is highly absorbent and resistant to shrinkage with a silk-like quality. In addition, the brand has become involved with various fashion bloggers that talk about their personal experience with one of Arteecollage’s current garments every week. This is a great way for customers to understand that although the collections might seem simple, there is a number of ways to create stylish and exciting looks with them.
For their latest and in fact first partnership, Paul Engeris created complex and surrealistic drawings that were inspired by mythology and then transferred onto Arteecollage’s basic T-shirts and leggings. The ‘rampant scribbles of a subversive subconscious’, as the artist describes himself, are entirely created by ink and are a result of his lucid imagination. This particular collaboration certainly adds an edge to Arteecollage’s products that can seem quite simple at first glance.

Although the graphic scribbles only appear on men’s T-shirts, they can without difficulty be worn by women who like to add an effortlessly loose fit into their personal wardrobe. I for instance have bought my Mythology V-neck Tee in the smallest men’s size and I really like the easy going look! My favorite way to wear this particular graphic tee is with a pair of denim shorts over some dark green tights and a stylish pair of black wedges. I never forget to wear an oversized cardigan these days, as it’s getting pretty cold out there! Why not try one with a studded shoulder detail to add some rock to the look?
If you like this week’s look or want to create your own personal one, please visit the Arteecollage official store where you can get one of the Mythical Tee’s for only £14.40, as it’s on sale right now or you can bid on it on Ebay for an even more interesting price!

This is just the beginning of the artistic journey that Arteecollage has embarked on, so we should absolutely be keeping an eye out for what might emerge next. Rumor has it that the result of their following collaboration should appear sometime around London’s next Fashion week, however it is advised to check their Facebook page regularly to stay up to date about their upcoming events around the city and online!

FRESH MUSIC MONDAY: DELILAH

She was a consistent FROW member during last week’s LFW and was photographed countless times at more after show parties than we can fathom. Topshop love her so much they even showcased her singer-songwriting skills by getting her to perform through the windows of their flagship store on Oxford Street as part of Vogue’s Fashion Night Out. And she’s just been nominated in the Best Newcomer category at the MOBO Awards. So it’s safe to say Delilah is the girl of the moment.
But we’ve been crushing over her since last year when Love You So seemed to be the theme tune in our office. Not only is she fall-to-the-floor gorgeous, blazing a super stylish but off-kilter trail, awfully talented at song writing and blasting those ace vocals, but she’s a charmingly kind lady too (we know, we’ve been fortunate enough to interview her!).
We can’t get over Delilah’s asymmetric body-skimming number at the MOBO nominations – it turns heads and oozes carefree and casual fabulous qualities. To achieve a similar look check out our collection of asymmetric clothing. But we also cannot get over this killer new track, entitled Shades of Grey, which has been mixed by MJ Cole.

GUEST BLOGGER – JEN POW #3: “ARTEECOLLAGE URBAN CHIC – WHITE VEST COOL”

Monday’s Wonder-day with a new start to our bloggers’ network. First-up this week is Jen Pow who shows us how adaptable, flexible and innovative the beauty of a plain white tee can be. Read on for her musings on the permanence of our epically crafted Speed Pure Tank and how even celebs are loving the power of the white tee.

“Arteecollage Urban Chic  - White Vest Cool”, by Jen Pow

There is no other more essential basic than the white vest, it can be worn on its own, layered with other items and be dressed up or down. There is also no other item which evokes the classic feel of urban cool.
As you can see from these street style pics the white vest is versatile, it can be styled easily for different trends and it’s so comfortable to wear. Even celebrities love the white vest as a basic for every day style, Gwen Stefani is often seen wearing a white vest with patterned trousers and her statement red lipstick. For casual cool channel Rosie Huntington Whiteley by teaming a white tank top with a fedora and leg-lengthening shorts. Also, Kate Hudson is looking fabulously laid-back with a classic combo of blue jeans and white tee, along with thigh-high boots for added contemporary edge.
I really love how Nicole Richie has dressed up the white vest in her outfit below: teaming it with a black leather skirt, heels and a hair band. It’s such a great monochrome look and really has that urban cool minimalist feel.

What? Cocktail making
Where? Comfort of your house
When? At la weekend

Two of life’s most beautiful, consumable inventions collide in this recipe that is to die for. Featuring chocolate and alcohol, this special martini isn’t just for the girls. Thanks to BBC Food recipes, our taste buds are going to be awfully satisfied tomorrow night!
Ingredients (serves 4, reading in 15 mins)
  • 200ml gin or vodka
  • 50g dark chocolate (70 per cent cocoa solids)
  • 100ml chocolate liqueur, try Black Mozart available from specialist off-licences and thedrinkshop.com
  • Crushed ice
Method
1.    Measure the gin or vodka in a jug. Melt the chocolate and pour into the alcohol, whisking all the time, until smoothly blended. Add the chocolate liqueur.
2.    For each cocktail, shake 100ml of the chocolate liquid with crushed ice and strain into a martini glass. Decorate with a curl of lemon zest.
Tips
When melting chocolate there are two basic rules to avoid it seizing (becoming thick, gritty and unworkable): don’t overheat it and don’t let water get into the chocolate bowl. Either melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over (not in) a pan of simmering water or give it 20-second blasts in the microwave, stirring between each one to re-distribute the heat.

GUEST BLOGGER – AIMEE LONG #2: “TRAVELLING TEE”

Hello and welcome to the new Arteecollage blogger. Feels good to have FINALLY joined the bandwagon. Each week we are going to bring you a host of the latest, most finest fashion, music, film and art news, as well as all things Arteecollage. But now let's get down and busy with some fabulous fashion.

This week we wanted to introduce you to one of our guest bloggers, Aimee Long of New York Doll writing fame. as part of our network of contributors she will be showing y'all lovely readers what she loves about our new collection. Blogging for us all the way from Greece, she shows us how, through the aid of a soft and reliable plain white tee, you can protect yourself from sheer miscomfort and looking dowdy on holiday, all thanks to Arteecollage apparel.

“Travelling Tee”, by Aimee Long

It seems as though I can’t stay in one place very long. I have just moved to London after living in Southampton for just a year, managed to get to grips with my surrounding area (belive me it was rather tricky) and then went to Paris on the Friday. Paris was incredible and now I’m in Greece. I think I just like jet setting in all honesty. I currently find myself typing from a small backroom of a bar listening to the sound track of the 90′s, it’s total cheese, but you just have to love it.
With all this travelling you can’t help but want to be comfortable. Being on the plane can be a nightmare, screams from creatures that look as though they were born only last week, the terrible twos fighting and kicking the back of your chair and the highly annoyed parents raising their voices louder than the children to try and take control of the situation – it never works. As you can imagine my surroundings weren’t comfortable, but at least what I was wearing didn’t give me extra grief. My super soft modal jersey tee, that goes by the name of ‘Speed Pure Tank‘, was the perfect choice. It’s slim fitting, chic, crew necked and has become my wardrobe essential due to its functionality – without sounding too cocky, it is rather figure flattering as well.
I wore this with a long maxi skirt and a few chunky bracelets. Get yours from Arteecollage for the great sale price of 12 pounds.
